GENERAL RULES &REGULATIONS FOR CLONAKILTY SHOW

  1. The last day for receipt of entries is Thursday, 1st June 2023. Entries received after that date will not be accepted as this closing date gives our printer the shortest possible time to print the Show Book. Exhibitors are earnestly requested to send entries much earlier than the closing date of Thursday, 1st June 2023.
  2. The Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry, vary the prize list or arrangements or remove any person or any exhibit at any time during the show, and shall not be in any way liable for compensations or otherwise arising out of the holding, abandonment or alteration of the date of the show, or any claim arising out of or concerned with the show.
  3. Cheques, Money Orders and Postal Orders to be made payable to ‘Clonakilty Agricultural Show Ltd.’
  4. A person entering an exhibit, who fails to send same for exhibition, shall forfeit entry fee.
  5. All exhibits in the Horticultural Produce, Cookery and Arts & Crafts, Photography, Class Numbers 01-68(inclusive) to be removed between 5.00 pm and 5.30 pm on Sunday, 11th June 2023. Exhibitors in these classes must produce to the steward in charge of the respective halls an official removal card.
  6. Exhibits which have been sent by bus or post will be conveyed to the show grounds, and returned as soon as possible after the show, but the company will not accept any responsibility for any loss, damage or delay that may occur to the exhibits due to any reason whatsoever, such being the sole risk of the Exhibitor. Cash must be sent for return journey.
  7. An attendant in charge of exhibits, other than livestock (Cattle, Sheep, Horses and Ponies), must pay full admission fee to show unless able to produce a Show Pass or Membership Card to the Steward at the gate.
  8. No prize given unless 2 compete. No Second Prize given unless 3 compete. No Third Prize given unless 6 compete, except where the judges consider there is a special merit and record same in their books at time of judging.
  9. First prize winners are debarred from further competition except a horse or pony winning a first prize in an exhibiting class may also compete in a jumping, trotting, dressage or hunter chase competition where eligible. First prize winners in the Dog Section and Pony Section may compete in all eligible classes. Qualifiers are also exempted
  10. The Company will not be responsible for any errors in the Class Schedule, Entry Forms or Show Book on line or in hard copy.
  11. Each exhibitor to whom a prize is awarded must be prepared, when requested by the Committee, to make a statutory declaration that the conditions and regulation affecting such prize have been compiled with, otherwise the prize shall lapse to the company.
  12. Owners of Horses and Ponies are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of the exhibitor, owner, attendant or rider will disqualify the horse or pony from adjudication or from taking a prize, and the owner shall forfeit his or her entry fee. This rule applies to all exhibitors. The Show Committee reserves to itself the power to remove any animal from the show without being liable for compensation.
  13. Should an objection be made to a successful animal in any class on the basis of age or height, the stewards of the class shall have the animal examined by the Veterinary Surgeon whose decision shall be final.
  14. The judges are instructed to withhold a prize where sufficient merit does not appear. The acceptance of Entry Fee by the Secretary shall not be regarded as an admission that the Prize awarded by the judges shall be final unless otherwise provided for in these rules, and not withstanding any error which may be made by the Steward or other official of the company, in placing a prize card on the Exhibit.
  15. Objections in any class must be lodged in writing with the Secretary before 5.00 pm on the day of the Show accompanied by a fee of €20.00, the fee to be returned if the objection is upheld. Objections will be considered at a later meeting of the Show Committee, whose decision shall be final.
  16. EXAMINATIONS OF DOGS MOUTHS – Judges and Veterinary Surgeons are requested to allow exhibitors to open their dogs’ mouths to facilitate any necessary examination.
  17. The Committee reserves to themselves the right to return or reject any entry without assigning a reason; to cancel a class or competition; or to postpone the Show.
  18. A parade of prize winning horses will take place during the Show at a time to be decided by the Stewards of the main arena. A public address announcement shall be deemed sufficient notice of the precise time. Absence of any prize winning animal from the parade will entail forfeiture of the prize or prizes won.
  19. The Company will not be accountable for any accident howsoever arising from or for any injury or damage howsoever sustained by any person whether a spectator, exhibitor or otherwise, while in attendance at or within the precincts of the show, or for any damage to cars or other property of whatever nature which have been brought on to the Company’s property for whatever purpose.
  20. An enclosed parking area for cars (at owner’s risk) is provided adjacent to the Show Grounds free of charge.
  21. GENERAL: The Company reserves to itself the sole and absolute right to interpret these rules or any other prescribed conditions and regulations on this Class Book and to arbitrarily settle and determine all or any matters or questions or differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with or incidental to the Show. Also to refuse or cancel entries, disqualify competitors, prohibit exhibitions of entries, vary or cancel awards of prizes or reserved numbers, and relax conditions as the Company may deem expedient: and the decision of the Show Committee shall be final in all respects.
  22. The Class Schedule is subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Company.
  23. Clonakilty Show is a member of the Irish Shows Association.
  24. CHALLENGE CUPS - Confined to animals eligible for and exhibited in their appropriate Show Class. The person to whom the Cup is awarded to, shall give an undertaking to the Show Committee that the Cup will be delivered to the Secretary in as good condition as received at least 30 days prior to the date of the succeeding show.  The Show Committee reserves the right to alter the time and conditions of any Challenge Cup for future shows, or withholding a cup if the Judge does not find sufficient merit.
  25. A ‘Show Member’ means a person who has paid his/her membership fee of €20 between The 2023 AGM and Show Day 2023 and attends a minimum of three meetings in the year.
